Capital City Fruit, Inc., received a score of 920 out of 1,000 from 3rd party auditor American Institute of Baking following a rigorous 2-day audit on October 22nd and 23rd, 2009. This score corresponds to a rating of Superior from AIB, their highest rating. Capital City Fruit also received a Superior rating in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 from AIB and the highest rating from Silliker in 2007. Thus, this is the 6th straight year Capital City Fruit has received the highest rating from a 3rd-party-auditor.

Jeff Young, Food Safety Specialist for Capital City Fruit stated, “AIB released new standards earlier this year and our team spent a lot of time and effort complying with the new standards.”

AIB also conducted a Primus audit and those results are expected within a week.

“As usual, we have some things to work on, but all of our corrective actions are minor and easy to fix,” added Mr. Young. “We learn new things from each and every audit and that serves to help us continuously improve our food safety program.”

“I often relate to the employees that our goal has never been simply to receive high ratings from 3rd party auditors,” Brendan Comito, Chief Operations Officer stated. “The ultimate goal and the only one that matters when it comes to food safety, is for our products to be free of contamination while they are in our possession. This requires constant, day-by-day vigilance by our staff. I am confident we have the team in place to be the best we possibly can when it comes to food safety.”
